Intro

I work with people wishing to improve their health using natural solutions. As a Medical Herbalist I look at the whole person, focussing on how they are feeling and exploring the possible root causes of their symptoms. Each person is unique; taking time to listen and understand the impact of health concerns on a person’s wellbeing helps me select the right herbs to address their particular situation.

I am based in the Hillfoots of Clackmannanshire in easy reach of Dollar, Bridge of Allan, Dunblane, Stirling & Falkirk.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Herbal Medicine?

Herbal Medicine uses plants and plant parts to help the body return to health. Gentle but powerful, it works well on its own or alongside orthodox medicine, treating the whole person not just their symptoms. Herbal treatments are derived from whole plant parts, e.g. roots, flower, leaf, bark, fungi or seaweed and usually prescribed in the form of teas, tinctures, creams or capsules.

It works well in acute and chronic conditions and is particularly helpful for those stubborn long term problems that often don’t respond to conventional medicine alone, such as eczema, digestive issues, poor sleep, fatigue, joint pain, hormone health, circulatory health, mood, and skin conditions.

Is it safe?

Yes, Medical Herbalists train for 3-4 years full time, undergoing a minimum of 500 hours clinical contact. They are trained to assess and manage a wide range of conditions in people of all ages and to prescribe herbs alongside conventional medicines while taking into account any possible herb-drug interactions.

What should I expect?

First consultations last around an hour; this allows time to explore possible root causes of your symptoms, including lifestyle, diet and emotional wellbeing. Your medical history, family history, medications and any allergies will be considered. A short physical examination such as taking blood pressure, listening to the chest, examining joints or gently pressure on or around your abdomen may occur. Then an individualised herbal treatment plan will be developed specifically for you with follow up appointment arranged for a few weeks later.

Had a consultation with Lesley for arthritis in my thumb that was causing me major pain. Lesley made me a beautiful anti inflammatory cream and because of her expertise as a physio she could tell me why I had the pain and suggested exercise and stretches for my thumb. I cannot thank her enough. Testimonial from G
